Monotype of monoprint is een druktechniek waarbij maar één afdruk kan worden gemaakt. Op een plaat wordt met inkt of verf een afbeelding gemaakt. Terwijl de inkt nog nat is wordt deze afgedrukt op het papier.

De plaat kan van verschillend materiaal zijn. Bijvoorbeeld karton of glas of plexiglas, hard of zacht plastic folie. De verschillende materialen zullen een andere werkwijze en ander effect hebben op de print

Monotype or monoprint is a printing technique where only one print can be made. An image is made on a plate with ink or paint. While the ink is stille wet it will be printed on paper.

The plate can be of different material. For example, carboard or glass or plexiglass, hard or soft plastic film. The different materials will have a different method of working and a different effect on the  print

Hier heb ik stevig plastic folie gebruikt waar ik afwisselend gedeeltes inkt op afgedekt heb met stukken papier. En zo om en om lagen inkt aangebracht zodat ik sommige delen meerdere keren van inkt heb kunnen voorzien en andere lichter heb kunnen houden. Later heb ik op de achterkant van het ingeinkte plastic met een puntig voorwerp lijnen gekrast zodat de lichte plekken voorzien zijn van een lijnenspel.

Here I have used sturdy plastic wrap on which I alternately covered parts of ink with pieces of paper, so I have been able to ink some parts several times and keep others more light. Later I scratched on the back of the inked plastic with a pointed object so that the light parts have a patern of lines.

Bij deze print heb ik gebruik gemaakt van planten. Soms heb ik de plaat afgedekt met een plant, soms heb ik juist gebruik gemaakt van de restvorm op de plaat die ontstaat na het afdrukken.

In this print I used plants . Sometimes I covered the plate with a plant, sometimes I just used the residual shape on the plate that arises afer printing.
